Originally from Dallas, Texas, Samantha (SAM) Benfield studied at Arizona State University and Texas Tech University before graduating with a degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University. While in school, she managed production and lease accounts for her family’s oil company, Ventana Exploration. After graduation, she launched her real estate career as Office Manager for Keller Williams Realty High Country. Three years later, she earned her broker’s license and quickly rose to become one of the area’s top-performing agents, ranking in the top 3% of selling agents in the High Country.

In 2023, Sam became the Broker-in-Charge of Keller Williams High Country, overseeing more than 100 brokers while continuing to build her own thriving sales business. With extensive market knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and deep local expertise, she has earned a reputation for treating every client like family. She is committed to making each transaction seamless, professional, and enjoyable—always keeping her clients’ best interests at heart.

On a personal note, Sam met her husband at Appalachian Ski Mountain in 2009, shortly after relocating from Dallas. They now live in Avery County with their two children on 24 acres along the Linville River, where they have enjoyed raising farm animals and embracing mountain life. Her husband, a former professional fly-fishing guide, now flips homes and works with a luxury home builder.

Sam and her family also own a second home in Cedar Key, Florida, which they enjoy personally and also operate as an investment property. That experience—balancing lifestyle with offsetting expenses through vacation rental income—has given her unique insight into helping clients purchase their own mountain second homes that double as both a retreat and a smart investment. The family also spends time on their Lagoon 380 sailing catamaran, Ramble On, most recently returning from six weeks in the Bahamas.
